Course
Description:
Course Objectives: Upon completion
of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Add, subtract, multiply
and divide whole numbers, fractions, mixed numbers, decimals, and negative
numbers.
2. Round whole numbers and decimals to various place values and round
mixed numbers to the nearest whole number.
3. Apply the order of operations to problems involving integers, fractions,
and decimals.
4. Evaluate integers, fractions, and decimals to powers of 2, 3, 4, and
5.
5. Order from smallest to largest a list of fractions, decimals, integers,
or a combination thereof.
6. Read and interpret bar graphs, line graphs, pictographs, and circle
graphs.
7. List the factors of a number and find the prime factorization of a
number.
8. Simplify ratios, calculate unit rates, and solve proportions.
9. Estimate answers by rounding
10. Convert a fraction, decimal, or percent into the other two forms of
the number.
11. Solve problems involving percents in which the unknown quantity can
be the part, the whole, or the percent.
12. Use the percent equation to solve problems involving sales tax, commission,
discounts, and percent increase or decrease.
13. Convert units of measurement in both the English and Metric systems.
14. Calculate perimeter and area of rectangles, squares, parallelograms,
trapezoids, triangles, and circles.
15. Find the mean, median, and mode of a set of numbers.
16. Solve application problems from all of the preceding objectives.
