  • June 12, 2002, 9:0-10:00 PM PDT.  TIE14".  Images by Ron Armale (Cypress telescope operator), and Joel Pedroza (Mt. Wilson TIE telescope operators).  Technical Problem:  Telescope pointing was off, so only one image was successful.

  •       M3 Globular Cluster highly resolved, in Canes Venatici.  M=6.40, t=1s. Compare to 5/14/01.

  • June 11, 2002, 9:0-10:00 PM PDT.  TIE14".    Images by Ron Armale (Cypress telescope operator), and Barrett Duff (Mt. Wilson TIE telescope operators).  Telescope pointing was a bit off, so images are off center.

  •       M13 Great Globular star cluster in Hercules. M=5.9, t=30s.       NGC5371 Round Galaxy with bright core in Canes Venatici, M=10.80, t=30s.
          NGC5350 Spiral Galaxy at lower right of saturated bright star in  Canes Venatici . M=12.35, t=30s.  Also see ->       NGC5353 (M=11.1) Lenticular Galaxy at upper right of interacting pair, elongated galaxy, brightest in group.  And NGC5354 (M=11.4) Lenticular Galaxy at lower left of interacting pair, round galaxy in group.           Start of eclipse around 5:30 PM.  Note sunspots.       Eclipse near maximum around 7 PM.

  •       M108 Spiral Galaxy in Ursa Major, M-10.72, t=60s, false color.       M109  Spiral Galaxy in Ursa Major.  M=10.55, t=60s, false color, compare to image on 3/28/01.       M97  Owl Nebula, Planetary Nebula, irregular, in Ursa Major.  M=11.2, t=35s,  false color, compare to image on 4/23/01.
          NGC3242 Ghost of Jupiter, planetary nebula ring with central star, in Hydra, M=9.0, t=40s.       NGC3718 Elongated Galaxy in Ursa Major, M=10.5, t=60s, false color.  To its left is NGC3729 ->       NGC3729 Elongated galaxy with bright core in Ursa Major, M=11.4, t=60s, false color.  To its right is <-NGC3718.
          NGC3953 Very elongated galaxy with bright core in Ursa Major, M=10.10, t=60s, false color.       NGC4068 Elongated Irregular Galaxy in Ursa Major, M=13.0, t=60s.

  • May 8, 2002, 9:0-10:00 PM PDT.  TIE14".    Images by Liliana Barabas, Lea Enearancion, Keith Bartley, Bryan Horsewooo, Jane Ahn, Grace Lee, Andrea Beckler, Robert Elton, Ioana Lupas, Brandon Powers, Bhakti Ganatra, Ian Bowlen, Jason Hanky, Anna Blake, Jeremy Hunt, Corrine Avila, Elizabeth Yeargain, Ron Armale (Cypress telescope operator), and Dannielle Svehla (Mt. Wilson TIE telescope operators).  We had some clouds in the South that affected some images.

  •       M3  Globular Cluster in Canes Venatici.  M=6, t=2s.  Compare to image on 5/14/01.       M51  Whirlpool  Galaxy.  Spiral Galaxy and 
      companion (NGC 5195) in 
     Canes Venatici near the 
     handle of the Big Dipper. 
     False color.  M=9.16, t=45s.  Compare to image on 4/18/01.
          M53 Globular Cluster highly resolved in Coma Berenices.  M=7, t=5s.  Compare to image on 5/14/01.
          NGC4214 Spiral Galaxy structure in Canes Venatici, M=9.7, t=50s.       NGC4217 Edge on Galaxy in Canes Venatici.  M=12, t=60s.  Note CCD bleeding due to overexposure of bright foreground stars.       NGC4631 Edge-on galaxy in Canes Venatici.  Very elongated 
      galaxy; dusty with bright 
     knots.  M=9.3, t=60s.  Compare to image on 4/19/00.
          NGC4839 Elongated galaxy and close companion in Coma Berenices, M=14, t=60s.       NGC5053  Globular cluster, loose, in Coma Berenices, M=9.8, t=8s.



  • March 19, 2002, 9:15-10:15 PM PST.  TIE24".  Images by Liliana Barabas, Isaac Kim, David Parker, Sam Mathew, Princess Nguyen, Kathy Arias, Mike Keenan, Keith Bartley, Lea Encarnacion, Ron Armale (Cypress telescope operator), and Jim Thorpe (Mt. Wilson TIE telescope operators).

  •       Jupiter and 4 Galilean Moons, False color, t=0.11s.       M105 Elliptical Galaxy in Leo, M= 10, t=30s, false color.  Compare to 4/23/01.       M44 Beehive Cluster in Cancer, open cluster, t=3s.
           M65 Spiral Galaxy in Leo, near M66->, M=10.1, t=30s, false color.  29 million light years away.  Compare to 4/5/00.       M66  Spiral Galaxy in Leo. near M65 <-  M=9.6. t=30s, false color, compare to 3/28/01.       NGC2392 Eskimo Nebula or Clown Face Nebula in Gemini, M=10, t=15s, overexposed.
          NGC3384 Irregular Galaxy in Leo, M=10.7, t=30s, false color.  Note companion galaxy at lower right.  This group is near M105 and the two images to the right ->       NGC3412 Elongated Galaxy with bright core, in Leo next to M105 and the two images to right and left <-->, M=10.6, t=30s, false color.
          NGC3628 Very Elongated Galaxy, note dust lane, M=10.5, 30s, false color, next to M105 and the two images to the left <-.
